Philadelphia, PA - GLOBO has been awarded status on Panda Health’s Digital Health Marketplace as a Panda Partner. The Language and Interpretation category highlights solutions that eliminate communication barriers due to language incompatibility between patients and providers.
For hospitals and health systems, incorporating language and interpretation solutions provides opportunities for organizations to engage seamlessly with the non-English speaking community within their existing patient populations. These solutions help to centralize language support, improve access, and reduce costs while fitting into existing workflows.
The benefits of a language and interpretation solution include:
On-demand telephone interpreting
On-demand video interpreting
Unified language management platform
Enhanced protection of information security
Ability to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services
Transparency in the reporting and collection of data
Access to thousands of interpreters and translators to account for increased volume and needs for rare languages
“We’re proud to announce our partnership with Panda Health,” said Jim Pastore, Director of Customer Success, GLOBO. “We want all patients to be treated with the same care and compassion, no matter what language they speak. This agreement will allow us to extend our mission to the large network of health systems that trust Panda Health.”
The partnership allows Panda-contracted hospitals and health systems to utilize GLOBO for language support services, which enables health systems to effectively communicate with the limited-English proficient (LEP) population. Limited-English proficiency describes the 25 million Americans who do not speak English as their primary language and who have a limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English.
“Language is a key social determinant of health. Through this partnership with Panda Health, more hospitals and health systems have the opportunity to improve patient communication and eliminate language as a barrier to care.”
– Dipak Patel, CEO, GLOBO
LEP patients are at higher risk for healthcare readmission and experience longer stays than English-speaking patients. According to medical safety experts, around 80% of medical errors that could be deemed as "serious" were the direct result of poor communication. In one study of 23,000 medical malpractice lawsuits, 7,000 were related to communication failures. Access to interpreting services plays a critical role in mitigating risk.
As more hospitals and health systems prioritize and deploy language and interpretation programs to prioritize health equity for their patient populations, Panda Health’s Language and Interpretation category will make it easier for them to contract with the best digital health solutions available.
“We’re thrilled to feature GLOBO as an industry leader on our marketplace, providing our health system clients with faster and easier access to Language and Interpretation technology. The benefits of adopting this type of solution allows for health systems to appropriately engage with underserved populations strengthening the relationship between patients and providers,” said David Harvey, CEO at Panda Health.
