The Medical Interpreter (TMI) is a nationally recognized, 40-hour, medical interpreter training program designed to equip bilingual individuals with the essential skills and knowledge required to provide accurate and culturally competent interpretation in healthcare settings. We cover a wide range of topics, including the role of the medical interpreter, interpreting protocols, medical terminology, and ethical standards. You will also learn about cultural competency, healthcare systems, and how to navigate complex patient-provider interactions. Through role-playing, practice sessions, and real-world scenarios, trainees develop the proficiency needed to ensure effective communication between healthcare providers and patients with limited English proficiency. Upon completion, participants are well-prepared for professional medical interpreting roles.
