How to Prepare, Complete, and Understand the Language Test Process
To help you succeed in our language assessment, here are some essential tips and guidelines to follow:
1. What You Will Need for the Test
Before you begin, make sure you have the following in place:
Computer Access: You will need a computer for both sections of the test.
Computer Audio or Telephone Access: For the oral section, you will need either computer audio (preferably with a headset and microphone) or a telephone. We highly recommend using a computer for this part of the test.
Quiet Environment: Choose a location free from distractions, and make sure no other people are present during the test.
Pen and Paper: Have a pen and paper on hand to take notes during the assessment.
What You Cannot Use During the Test
To ensure the integrity of the assessment, please note the following:
No Assistance from Others: Do not have anyone assist you during the test.
No Online Translators or Software: You should not use online translators, software, or any other aides on your computer that would not be available in a real-life interpreting scenario.
Test Completion Guidelines
We recommend that you complete the test in one session. If you need to leave the test midway, please do so only within the limits of the allowed attempts (no more than three). If you have a connection issue, please wait until your connection is stable before reapproaching the test.
For the interpreting sections, please focus on getting the most accurate interpretation within three repetitions of the question. While the test allows you to repeat questions multiple times, we want to assess your ability to retain information and use your note-taking skills effectively.
2. Retaking the Test
If the test results do not reach the desired threshold, there will be a 6-month grace period before you can retake the test. After this period, your recruiter will ask you to submit proof of steps you've taken to improve your interpreting skills before you are allowed to retake the test. Retaking the test will be granted based on the business needs for your language pair at the time. Your dedicated recruiter will assist you in the process when your language pair becomes a priority again.
When Will You Receive Your Results?
Once the test is complete, your results will be processed within 24 to 48 business hours. Please note that you will not receive a copy of your test results. Instead, if you pass the test, you will receive instructions to follow for the next steps in the process.
Your recruiter will guide you through the next phase of the onboarding process once your results are processed.
We hope these tips help you approach the assessment with confidence! If you have any questions or need assistance, don't hesitate to contact your recruiter.
